Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What does "rush week" mean?
During Rush Week, there are events that you can attend in order to learn more about KGD and to meet our sisters. This is also a time for us to get to know you! We hope you attend as many events as possible!
2. Does RUSH cost anything?
Nope! Rushing KGD does not cost you anything, only your time.
3. Is KGD a member of the Panhellenic Association?
No, KGD is an independent academic and professional sorority recognized by SOAR. We are independent from any of the governing bodies of the UC Santa Cruz Greek Community. However, we have events with the Intergreek Council (IGC), such as socials and participating in the annual Greek Week competition.
4. What is the difference between "rushing" and "pledging"?
Rushing is the process of attending the events planned during our Rush Week...just a chance for you to learn about KGD, meet the sisters, and decide if it is something you would like to be involved in. If a rushee is extended a bid at the end of the Rush Week, then she may choose to complete a pledging process throughout the quarter to further get to know the sisters of KGD. Pledging is an 8-week committment; to learn more, look for our pledge moms Kaia Jystad and Michelle Bretschneider at our events!
5. Does KGD have a house?
KGD does not maintain an official sorority house. However, most of our sisters do end up becoming roommates more often than not.
